Review: The Nesting Place by Myquillyn Smith

Myquillyn in her book The Nesting Place takes us with her as she shares her journey to learn to create a home through its atmosphere, decor, and her attitude. She uses photos and stories to explain different tips and ideas of how you can create an inviting space with the resources you have available and how that space can speak to your family’s individuality and story.

While the book is geared towards the home with decorating ideas and tips, weaved through out the book is Myquillyn’s story of what God taught her on this journey. I enjoyed reading, learning and it was great to see photos that went along with the stories that she shared. Not only did they bring alive what she described, it helped me to get some ideas of my own on what I could do with my own home.

I am recovering perfectionist and one take away I had from reading the book was permission to not have a perfect house. I also walked away realizing I have very specific ideas on what I want my house to look like and those ideas allow who my husband and I are to be reflected. I need to just dive in and try things.

If you are looking for ideas on creating a home, feel stuck, or want some fresh decorating ideas I would recommend reading The Nesting Place.
