“Following Jesus with all your heart doesn’t mean everything is going to go smoothly and you will never have any challenges. But it does mean you will have a satisfied and abundantly blessed journey through life, and as you let him lead, you can be sure he will take you on the best and most beautiful route.” p95
Fall of 2016 I had the opportunity to be a part of the launch team for a new book called “She Believes” by Debbie Lindell. God’s timing is always good and perfect. Debbie’s book was a good kick in the pants for me. Throughout the book I have sections underlined and notes on the side. The book came into my hands a t a time when I needed to be reminded of God’s plan for me. There is a misnomer you see among people about what life is like when you choose to follow Jesus – and that is life goes great. But that is a fairy tale. Life is hard. The beautiful part is that God walks with us through the difficult and peaceful seasons of life and does not leave us by ourselves. We are not left alone. As you read Debbie’s stories and the truths that she wants you to learn I was reminded that God often uses what we have gone through for His glory and for a bigger plan.
“She Believes” will have you laughing, crying and challenged to reflect on your life. Are you living with the best attitude possible? Are you allowing God to use you where you are? Are you caught in the “what ifs” or the self-centeredness that surrounds us? Are you struggling to believe that God is talking to you, are you looking for how He is talking to you and communicating to you?
One of the stories Debbie shares resonated deeply with me, because she talks about how God showed up, opened doors, and made his desire clear – but also revealed things as he wanted not all at once. I often times want God to show me the whole picture – what is the game plan, what is going to happen next, how will this all play out – and what He wants is for me to trust Him and listen and obey not knowing all the details.
Each day is a new day. A new opportunity to grow and learn. If you are looking for a book that will encourage you, make you laugh, cry, and challenge you – “She Believes” is a book I would recommend. Be ready to have your thinking challenged and encouraged in a great way. Don’t forget your pen to underline, write and respond.
